The State Duma proposes to imprison you for 5 years for criticizing the Red Army

Criticism of the actions of the Red Army during the Great Patriotic War can become a criminal offense, reports Ekho Moskvy .

The corresponding bill was submitted to parliament by the head of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, Irina Yarovaya.

The document provides for punishment for those who deny the Nuremberg verdict, the activities of the armies of the anti-Hitler coalition “to maintain international peace and security”, disseminate “deliberately false” information about these activities, accusing the military of committing crimes, “including artificially creating evidence for the accusation.” .

The bill is aimed at combating attacks on historical memory in relation to events that took place during the Second World War, the explanatory note says.

Criminals face fines of up to 300,000 rubles or up to three years in prison; when using official position or the media, the fine will increase to 500,000 rubles, and the term of imprisonment will increase to five years.

The Investigative Committee will investigate such cases.
