The minibus, in which Gerard Depardieu and members of the film crew of the Biryuza, were traveling, hit the accident in the center of Moscow on Sunday night, Izvestia reports.
According to the publication, the accident occurred at about 3:30 in the morning. The Mercedes minibus, in which six members of the film crew moved, was headed by Petrovka towards the Metropol Hotel. The police, by exception, allowed the actors to turn right at the intersection at the theatrical passage, the source of the newspaper said. When Mercedes turned around in the wrong place, Skoda, a taxi of the Moscow company Khodynsky Wings, crashed into it. As a result of the collision, six passengers of the minibus received abrasions. The victims refused hospitalization, but they were sent to examine the private French clinic in Moscow.
At the wheel of a taxi was 39-year-old Dmitry Subbotin, previously deprived of a driver's rights to refuse to undergo a medical examination for alcohol. The publication also notes that he was driving to the red light. Konstantin Sugarov, Deputy Director General of the Taxi Service of the Khodynsky Wings Service, confirmed that their driver was in an accident, but emphasized that he did not know about the driver’s lack of rights. According to him, all new drivers are carefully checked, and Subbotin had a driver’s license during entering the work.
Depardieu, at the end of 2012, with a scandal, refused French citizenship due to high taxes, in January became a Russian, having received a passport from President Vladimir Putin. Officially, the actor was registered in the capital of Mordovia - Saransk, where he gave him an apartment in a new building. Another apartment, in Grozny, was presented to him by the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov.
In the film "Biryuza", Gerard Depardieu plays the main role - a father, revenge on the death of his son. Filming began in May in Chechnya, then the process moved to Moscow. It was also previously reported that the actor will play a major role in the comedy about the 2014 Olympics in Sochi. The main female role in the film will be played by a Russian actress, State Duma deputy from United Russia Maria Kozhevnikova.
While in Russia, Depardieu ignored the courts in France, where his driving case was considered in a detachment. On June 21, the court in Paris in absentia deprived the driver of the driver’s license and fined four thousand euros.
