Rosselkhoznadzor officials decided to actively use the WTO site to protect the Russian market from the import of dangerous and poor -quality products, Interfax reports. The agency said this by the representative of the service Alexei Alekseenko.

Currently, Geneva is being held in the 57th meeting of the WTO Committee on the application of sanitary and phytosanitary measures (SFS) in trade. Participation in it is taken by the Deputy Head of Rosselkhoznadzor Evgeny Nerklonov.

“The Rosselkhoznadzor expressed serious concern about the absence of proper guarantees of the safety of products in the Russian Federation,” A. Alekseenko said. “We are talking first of all about the supply of falsified and counterfeit products.”

But most of all, Rosselkhoznadzor is disturbed by attempts to import products by incorrect certificates when the documents do not correspond to the products that they accompany.

“This means that the products were not inspected,” he said. “We are very concerned about the EU export certification system, in fact, it does not work and does not ensure that suppliers of Russian veterinary and sanitary requirements.”

Recall that Russia is preparing to introduce a ban on the supply of potatoes and planting material from the EU countries since July 1 of this year. "After representatives of the European Commission refused to negotiate on this issue in Geneva as part of a meeting of the PSS -Committee, we had no other choice," the recently said the head of the Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert.

Initially, the service planned to introduce a ban on June 1 of this year. Then the deadline was postponed to July 1, but the final decision on the introduction of restrictions depended on the measures taken by the European Union to ensure the safety of deliveries, the service said earlier.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, during a quarantine phytosanitary control of potatoes received in Russia from Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Spain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Finland, France, the Czech Republic, more than 100 cases were found golden potato, potato moth, pale potato potatoes. Nematode. During this period, attempts to import almost 12 thousand tons of European potatoes, infected with these quarantine objects for Russia, were prevented.
