Culture figures turned to municipal deputies of Moscow with an open letter, in which they are asked to help candidates for mayor with the passage of the "municipal filter". The letter was signed by people such as Boris Akunin, Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Chulpan Khamatova, Andrei Makarevich, and it was entirely published in Akunin's living magazine .
"The" deputy filter "acts for the mayor’s post. In the current situation of forces, passing through it is not guaranteed to anyone except the candidate from the current government ... It is bad if the current (elections) are essentially non -alternative," the letter said.
“We know that you are subject to pressure, which is difficult to resist. It requires considerable courage. But you are not ordinary residents of the city. You are deputies. We urge you to support the hit in the ballots of those who are not an administrative resource,” the letter says.
The message was signed: Boris Akunin, Leah Akhedzhakova, Julius Kim, Andrei Makarevich, Leonid Parfyenov, Eldar Ryazanov, Lyudmila Ulitskaya, Chulpan Khamatova.
To pass the municipal filter in the mayor’s elections, each of the candidates must collect at least 110 signatures of municipal deputies. It is not so simple to do this, and Akunin is afraid that "the candidate of power and several statists controlled by the authorities will be on the final list."
The filter was studied by one of the "independent" municipal deputies Maxim Katz. The volunteers, calling all the available "munders", asked them for whom they would put signatures. Many abandoned a direct answer, while direct extrapolation showed that, in addition to the acting Mayor Sobyanin, only communist Melnikov has a chance to go through the filter.
The Moscow Mayor will be held on September 8, 2013.
