The company offers three levels of comfort to choose from

Today, the low-cost airline New Germanwings, formed after the reorganization of the Lufthansa subsidiary at the beginning of the year, begins operating its flights.

From July 1, the low-cost airline New Germanwings, formed through the reorganization of a subsidiary of the German air carrier Lufthansa, begins operating its flights. The new low-cost carrier took over from its parent all intra-German and intra-European short-haul routes not departing from Frankfurt and Munich airports, and also inherited the activities of its predecessor company Germanwings.

The creation of New Germanwings was part of Lufthansa's major cost-cutting program called Score. Europe's second-largest company estimates the program will help boost operating profits by $1.96 billion and enable the company to return to profitability in its European operations. So far, low-cost transportation has brought only losses to Lufthansa.

At the same time, the creators of the new low-cost airline decided to change their approach to organizing flights in order to attract as many passengers as possible. The company offers its customers to choose one of three levels of flight comfort with the possibility of purchasing additional options.

Thus, basic level tickets will cost passengers only €33 with the possibility of baggage allowance and free seat selection. By choosing the standard (smart) option, passengers are entitled to front seating, free baggage allowance up to 23 kg, and free light snacks and drinks. The price of such a ticket will be from €53. The most expensive flight option (“best”) will cost the passenger €199–299. It includes the ability to choose a seat in the first three rows of the aircraft, the carriage of two pieces of baggage weighing up to 23 kg each, priority boarding on the flight, bypassing the general queue, and access to the business lounge.

As the company clarified, prices for Russia will be “not much higher” than in Europe. And in the future it is planned to expand the geography of flights to the regions of our country. For now, Germanwings operates flights only to Vnukovo (Moscow) and Pulkovo (St. Petersburg).
