Sergei Dorenko: “I think nothing will change in the editorial policy of RSN”

Journalist Sergei Dorenko resigned as editor-in-chief of the Russian News Service (RSN) radio station. This happened three days after Aram Gabrelyanov came to the post of RSN General Director.

On July 1, it became known that Sergey Dorenko, who had headed the RSN since 2008, resigned as editor-in-chief in order to spend more time with his family. At the same time, he will continue to lead the morning program "Rise". In a conversation with The New Times, Dorenko confirmed this information posted on the radio station's website.

Marat Berezov, first deputy Dorenko, has been appointed acting editor-in-chief of the RSN. “I think that nothing will change in the editorial policy. The success of the RSN largely depended on him as first deputy. I hope that Marat Berezov will later become the chief editor of the radio station,” Sergei Dorenko told The New Times.

Aram Gabrelyanov was appointed Director General of the RSN on June 28. Prior to that, he served as head of the News Media publishing house, which includes the Izvestia newspaper. Both RSN and News-Media are owned by the National Media Group, whose main shareholder is the head of Rossiya Bank, Yuri Kovalchuk, who is close to President Putin.

According to RIA-Novosti sources, for Dorenko himself, the decision to appoint Gabrelyanov to the RSN came as a complete surprise, and he is going to meet with Yuri Kovalchuk to discuss this situation.
