The court on the "extremist" book of Dmitrievsky

The case is considered by Judge Olga Khaidukova. The local prosecutor’s office made an idea of ​​recognizing an extremist book.

The hearing began on December 6, 2012. The compiler of the book is human rights activist Stanislav Dmitrievsky, as well as the head of the committee against torture, Igor Kalyapin, participate in the consideration as interested parties.

The two -volume "International Tribunal for Chechnya. Legal prospects for bringing to individual criminal liability of persons suspected of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during an armed conflict in the Chechen Republic" was represented in Moscow in 2009. Soon it became known that the Hamovnic Interdistrict Investigation Department conducts an audit on the fact of the alleged distribution of extremist materials. Then, in 2011, the Center for Combating Extremism also conducted an audit on the fact of the distribution of the book. However, criminal cases were not instituted then.

According to the Dzerzhinsky prosecutor’s office, the publication contains information aimed at humiliation of a group of persons belonging to the Russian national group, information that encourages actions against persons belonging to the Russian national group suspected of committing crimes during the Russian-Chechen conflict. ”

At the hearing on December 18, Dmitrievsky and his lawyer sharply criticized the “Expert Research”, compiled by Larisa Teslenko and Svetlana Zhiganova, pointing out the lack of professionalism of the authors of the conclusion. "Experts do not take into account such social values ​​as justice, natural rights. Experts do not conduct a line between negative assessments and extremism, copyright statements and citation. They do not bother themselves with the leading of references, which makes the study absolutely unscientific," Dmitrievsky noted.

On January 30, 2013, a member of the Council of the Human Rights Center "Memorial" Oleg Orlov arrived from Moscow was questioned as a witness. He noted that the information on crimes committed in the book committed by the parties during the armed conflict in the North Caucasus is more than 50 percent based on the results of the Memorial monitoring. This information, Orlov emphasized, was used by the authors of the monograph absolutely correctly, without any distortion or inaccuracies. He described the book as a serious scientific research, noting that in it the facts of human rights violations in Chechnya were first analyzed in detail in the light of the norms of international criminal law.

In February, Khaidukova suspended the consideration of the case for a new psychological linguistic examination. She was held by ANO "Center for Applied Linguistics". As Dmitrievsky noted on Facebook, the conclusions of specialists coincide with the position of him and Kalyapin.
