Street in the north of Moscow is named after Hugo Chavez

The name of the President of Venezuela Hugo Chavez was assigned to the street in Moscow, the current president of Venezuela Nicolas Maduro and President of Rosneft Igor Sichin took part in the ceremony, RIA Novosti reports. The ceremony was also attended by the head of the Department of Foreign Economic and International Relations of Moscow Sergey Cheremin.

Previously, the street was called the designed passage No. 5509. It is located in the Khoroshevsky district in the north of Moscow. In honor of Chavez, a commemorative board was installed on the street 1 on the street. Speaking at the ceremony, Maduro noted that Chavez was ten times in Moscow. "He never felt a stranger in Moscow. Thank you for this gift," said the President of Venezuela.

Sechin, in turn, noted that Russians have a special attitude towards Chavez. He expressed the opinion that Chavez is well characterized by Mayakovsky’s poems: “In our veins - blood, not water. We go through revolving barking, so that, dying, to embody in steamboats, in lines and other long things.”

Venezuela President Hugo Chavez died in March 2013. According to Russian laws, it is possible to call streets in honor of a particular person only 10 years after his death. An exception is allowed only in the case of the personal decree of the president.

With a proposal to name this passage by the name of Chavez, the president of Rosneft Igor Sechin addressed the Moscow authorities to the Moscow authorities. Earlier with the initiative to name one of the Moscow streets in the late President of Venezuela were the operators of the Communist Party of the Communist Party, as well as the chairman of the Moscow City Duma Vladimir Platonov.
