The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Vitaly Zakharchenko, admitted that police officers were involved in a high-profile crime in the village of Vradievka, Nikolaev region - the rape and beating of a local resident. , he made the corresponding statement As reported by Ukrayinska Pravda while speaking in the Verkhovna Rada on July 2.

“As soon as I became aware of the involvement of police officers in the crime... I immediately responded - I sent internal security officers and personnel inspection officers to conduct an official investigation,” the minister noted.

At the same time, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as reported by RIA Novosti , noted that forms of protest by local residents (they tried to storm the police department building last night) are unacceptable.

As previously reported, the rape victim said that she was attacked by local police officers: captain Evgeniy Drizhak and lieutenant Dmitry Polishchuk, as well as taxi driver Sergei Ryabinenko. Polishchuk and Ryabinenko were arrested, but Drizhak remained free. The police claim that he has an alibi (allegedly he was on duty at the time the crime was committed, which is allegedly confirmed by the recording from the video recorder). Local residents consider the alibi dubious: unofficially, Drizhak’s stay at large is linked to the fact that he is the godson of the regional police chief.

The refusal of law enforcement agencies to arrest one of the suspects sparked riots. On the night of July 2, hundreds of residents of Vradiyevka tried to storm the building of the police department, where Drizhak was allegedly located. In the morning they separated. Ten police officers were injured during the riots.

The crime, the victim of which was a 29-year-old saleswoman, was committed on June 26. Three men attacked a woman, dragged her into a car, took her to a forest area, severely beat her and raped her. The victim, who is currently in the hospital, has already given evidence.
