
In the Great Hall of the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, as part of the Orthodox Music Academy of Orthodox Music festival, the premiere of the Oratorios of the Oratorio "Five Angels" of the Moscow composer Pavel Karmanov will be held on July 16, the organizers were told by the Blagovers-Info agency. The oratorio will be performed by the youth chamber choir of the Philharmonic Society of St. Petersburg under the direction of Julia Khutoretskaya.
The composition for the mixed choir of soloists and the orchestra was written in 2013 by order of the International Festival "Academy of Orthodox Music" and its general producer Natalia Orlova. The texts of the oratorio compiled traditional Orthodox prayers and various poetic works, among which - a poem by the daughter of the last Russian emperor, the holy martyr Grand Duchess Olga.
According to the composer himself, his oratorio is a seven -part composition with a prologue and epilogue. In the center - 5 plays characterizing each of the royal children. “This is by no means a requiem. This is a singing about paradise, about martyrs in paradise. Therefore, the nature of the work is generally cheerful. Only in the extreme sections and in the part dedicated to Tsarevich Alexy, the music of the harsh and strict,” says Pavel Karmanov on his page in the “Living Journal” .
“When I wrote this music, I thought about innocently killed children and martyrdom in general. It was easy to write. Sometimes it seemed as if someone else wrote my hands. Of course, it was the Lord - sometimes I felt like an instrument in his hands. So this is only conditionally my composition,” the Blagovet -Info quotes the words of the author.
Pavel Karmanov was born in Bratsk, graduated from the capital's central music school and the Moscow Conservatory. He composed music in different styles, since the beginning of the 1990s he was passionate about the aesthetics of the postward and minimalism. A permanent participant in many festivals of modern music in Russia and abroad, his works sound in the largest halls performed by outstanding musicians of our time (among them - Alexey Lyubimov, Yuri Bashmet, Tatyana Grindenko, Mark Pekarsky and other performers).
