The Russian Academy of Sciences was obliged to transfer non -core real estate and land to the local authorities

The Russian Academy of Sciences, when reforming, should transfer its non -core assets to the local authorities.

"Institutes, each institution needs to decide on their property if today the Academy of Sciences is engaged in the content of kindergartens and some other institutions on its balance sheet, all this must be transferred to municipalities and cities," Olga Golodets, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, told reporters.

According to her, today the Academy of Sciences is the owner of 276 thousand hectares of land, RIA Novosti reports. "Why is this land? How should it be used, what should be with it?" - asked Golodets.

She emphasized that the money that the state spends on science should go exclusively in this area, and the money that is provided for the development of education should be spent exclusively in the field of education.

Recall that at a meeting of the Government of the Russian Federation on June 27, a large -scale reform of the state system system was announced. According to the bill, three academies, including the Russian Academy of Sciences, will be liquidated, and then on their basis one social-state organization “Russian Academy of Sciences” will be created. All current academics and corresponding members of the three academies will become real members of the new academy. At the same time, the management of property and institutions of the "old" RAS will be transferred to the new State Agency, and the Academy will be delivered from the management of financial flows and property of the current RAS.
