Berlin doctors confirmed: Tymoshenko in critical condition, she needs to be in Germany

The day after the daughter of the ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Tymoshenko spoke about the critical state of health of her mother, the head of the board of the Berlin clinic "Comb" Karl-Max Ainhapple confirmed her words. He stated that the health of the ex-Prime Minister of Ukraine worsened, and also assured him to provide her with the necessary treatment in Germany, the Kommersant-Ukraine newspaper reports.

“This (health deterioration) happened precisely on the week when Alexander Kvasnevsky and Patrick Cokes were in Ukraine. Yes, she (Yulia Tymoshenko) is still not ready for her to undergo an operation in Ukraine,” Ainhople explained. The ex-president of the European Parliament Cox and the ex-president of Poland Kvasinevsky, as UNIAN reported, was seen on June 28 with Tymoshenko in the Kharkov hospital, the meeting lasted about two hours.

On the eve of the daughter of Tymoshenko, who was serving a seven -year term for abuse of powers when signing gas contracts with the Russian Federation and currently undergoing treatment in the Kharkov hospital, said that German doctors insist on urgent surgical intervention. “If such an operation is not carried out, they believe that it is impossible to predict the further development of its condition, which is already critical now. (...) and they do not even exclude disability if such an operation is not carried out,” Evgenia Tymoshenko emphasized.

Commenting on his part the situation, the head physician of the Kharkov clinic Mikhail Afanasyev recalled that before surgery in the German clinic Tymoshenko it is necessary to undergo an examination, and this can be done in Kharkov. But as of Monday, the ex-prime minister did not give consent to diagnostics. According to the head physician, the issue of conducting the operation "remains open only in connection with Tymoshenko’s refusal to conduct these research."

However, the words of the head of the Berlin clinic say that the matter is not at all in the refusal of Tymoshenko to be examined. “She had our doctors more than a week ago. Our proposal to treat her here in Berlin remains valid. If President Viktor Yanukovych was ready for such a gesture, this would only increase respect for him,” Ainhopl said.

Meanwhile, according to Ukrainian doctors, nothing threatens Tymoshenko’s health at all. On June 20, the chief therapist of the Ministry of Health Vasily Nyzhenko said that the prisoner did not need any emergency measures. And the chief neurosurgeon of the Ministry of Health Yevgeny Pedachenko, answering the question of whether Tymoshenko can move, said: "As we reported, the patient serves herself." This is despite the fact that, according to her daughter, the ex-prime minister cannot even walk with walkers.

Tymoshenko treatment in Germany is a "issue of political will"

Currently, Tymoshenko’s associates believe, there are no legal mechanisms for her departure to Germany, but they can be created. “This is a matter of political will,” said Kommersant-Ukraine, the lawyer of the ex-Prime Minister Alexander Plahotnyuk. He believes that for a start, a medical opinion will be required and the relevant order of the state penitentiary service.

According to the lawyer, at the legislative level it is possible to accept instructions or regulatory documents that would allow the penitentiary service to decide on the treatment of prisoners outside the country. The same opinion is held by the People’s Deputy from the Fatherland Sergey Sas: “Yulia Tymoshenko is now under the jurisdiction of the GPS, and it can make a decision on her treatment abroad.” He suggested. “Now this decision is in the political plane and depends on the position of the current government.”

Previously, Viktor Yanukovych announced the probability of Tymoshenko’s export for treatment during a meeting with the leaders of parliamentary factions, “the issue of providing Tymoshenko’s opportunity to receive proper medical care abroad is considered,” he said on June 19, as Interfax reported.

However, for this, according to its political associates, Ukraine will need to conclude additional agreements with Germany. The regional Vladimir Oliynyk recalled that last year, by the general order of the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Health, the issue of the possibility for all prisoners to be treated in private clinics in Ukraine was settled. But in order to go abroad, he said, it is necessary to resolve a number of issues, first of all, the treatment regime of a person convicted of a crime.
