Inventor of a computer mouse died in the USA

In California at the age of 88, one of the Internet developers, the inventor of the computer mouse Douglas Engelbart, passed away. This was reported by his wife Karen Engelbart.

The inventor was born on January 30, 1925 in Oregon. The world owes him the appearance of a graphic user interface, text editor, online conferences, ITAR-TASS reports.

The scientist’s portfolio includes 20 patents on various inventions. Engelbart was awarded many awards, including the Pioneer of Computer Technology, the Turing Prize, the US National Medal in the field of technology and innovation, as well as the medal of Norbert Winer.

The most important invention is considered to be a computer mouse, the prototype of which the inventor presented on December 9, 1968. The patent for this breakthrough gadget was received in 1970.

Earlier it was reported that Engelbart was not very lucky with the invention of the mouse financially - the patent that he owned, expired shortly before the technology was presented to the general public by Apple. In other words, Douglas did not receive any deductions over the past 20 years, when the mouse confidently took up place on the desktop of users around the world.

However, in 1998, then American President Bill Clinton awarded Engelbart by the national medal for technological achievements, noting that he was involved in the leading of the foundations of modern computer technology.
