The Ambassador of Montenegro was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry in connection with the detention in this country of Dmitry Potrubach, the financial director of the bankrupt Podgorica Aluminum Plant (KAP), co-owned by Russian businessman Oleg Deripaska (No. 16 in the Russian Forbes ranking , fortune $8.5 billion) , reported on Thursday on the department’s website.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the ambassador “was expressed the deep concern of the Russian side about the situation developing around the Russian citizen, financial director of the Podgorica Aluminum Plant, Dmitry Potrubach.”

The ambassador was also expressed serious concern over the fact that embassy employees were not allowed to see the Russian citizen, although, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “Potrubach’s physical condition is alarming.”

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Montenegrin ambassador “was firmly demanded to immediately provide access to him to the consular officer and the embassy doctor.”

“The Russian Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy in Montenegro are closely involved in the situation with the Russian citizen, ensuring that the Montenegrin authorities respect his legal rights,” the Foreign Ministry said.

As RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Russian consul in Podgorica Andrei Morozov, a doctor from the Russian embassy has already gone to see Potrubach. According to Morozov, Potrubach himself asked for a doctor from the embassy to be sent to him.

Earlier on Thursday, Montenegrin media, citing the police, reported that Potrubach was detained on Wednesday evening by the Montenegrin border police while crossing the border with Serbia. A representative of the Russian consulate in Podgorica said that the Russian was detained by Montenegrin police for 48 hours . Presumably, Potrubach’s arrest is related to his activities in the company.

KAP is the largest enterprise in Montenegro. 29.3% of KAP belongs to Oleg Deripaska's En+, another 29.3% of KAP shares belong to the government of Montenegro. Recently, the company has experienced significant financial problems; as a result, the government of Montenegro filed a bankruptcy claim for KAP with the Arbitration Court of Podgorica.

The En+ Group company stated that it considers the detention in Montenegro of the financial director of KAP Potrubać as “repression” against the legitimate shareholders and investors of the company in order to put pressure on them.
