"Doctor "pi" refused the services of two lawyers

Yesterday, during a meeting of the Sykhovsky District Court of Lvov, Andrey Slyusarchuk, also known as “Doctor “pi”,” refused the services of two of his lawyers. During yesterday's meeting of the Sykhovsky District Court of Lvov, Andrei Slyusarchuk refused the services of lawyers Natalya Romanik and Roman Rusenko, who had defended him since his arrest in November 2011. Mr. Slyusarchuk criticized their work and accused them of failing to fulfill their obligations. “For a year and a half, Messrs. Romanik and Rusenko demonstrated complete inactivity. It is enough that my numerous requests to find my classmates and teachers were grossly ignored,” he noted. According to the accused, “he also had disagreements with his lawyers regarding defense strategy.” Natalya Romanik was present at yesterday's meeting, who confirmed that “our vision of the defense strategy was really different.” At the same time, she told the court that she was subjected to pressure from unknown people: “They repeatedly threatened me over the phone and told me to drop this case.” Meanwhile, before the start of the hearing, Ms. Romanik tried to explain something to her client, but he firmly stood his ground. “At least to the European Court,” he objected. “I have decided everything.” A source close to Andrei Slyusarchuk told Kommersant that the strategy of the former lawyers was based on the mental inadequacy of their client: “At the same time, no work was carried out on the defense itself, although the fees were quite high.”

In addition, during the trial, witness Alexander Shmakov, senior inspector of the Rava-Russkaya customs post, was questioned. Mr. Shmakov said that he has been friends with Andrei Slyusarchuk for 14 years. According to him, they met at the National University "Lviv Polytechnic", where he listened to Mr. Slyusarchuk's lectures on psychology. “Andrei Tikhonovich has unique knowledge. As a doctor, he treated my grandmother, aunt and brother. In addition, he healed my classmate, who fell into a coma after giving birth. Now she is alive and well,” said the witness. In a conversation with Kommersant, Andrei Slyusarchuk’s lawyer Taras Yatsulyak promised to soon provide the court with evidence of the healing of patients who were once treated by Doctor “pi”: “There will be enough witnesses and facts to refute the main line of accusation.”
