A banal tour of the White House would hardly have made Emily radically change her opinion about her father. But the excursion turned into a kind of bloody Disneyland, thanks to which she managed to post an interview with President Sawyer (Jamie Foxx) on her blog and become a TV star, transporting filming of villains from the White House captured by the conspirators, and then a national heroine. Dad, who saved the president’s life twenty times, achieved a return to a prestigious job. Mom will never yell at Dad again and, in addition, it seems, she will also have a personal life with the White House staff tour guide. Well, the fact that in less than 24 hours the United States has had three presidents, and one of them was hit by a surface-to-air missile, and another is facing the electric chair, is such nothing compared to the smile of a child.

And the gang that seized the White House resembles extras from a children's play portraying pirates. If viewers had simply been told that their leader (James Woods) had a brain tumor, it would have sounded tragic. But Emmerich clarifies: he has a tumor not just of the brain, but of both hemispheres. And the ominous detail turns into a parody. And in general, what if not a parody is a film in which the hero leads the president out from under fire through secret tunnels built by John Kennedy in order to secretly take Marilyn Monroe into his bedroom. How not to remember here “Mars attacks!” Tim Burton, where the president's lustful press attache, believing he had picked up a cool woman, escorted a Martian saboteur into the presidential bedroom.

The traitors inside the presidential administration are revealed by the fact that, unlike honest patriots, they do not use mobile communications, but pagers. It is known about the gang's regular hacker that he was kicked out of NASA for redirecting nuclear warheads to the Apple office, otherwise he is similar to all the hackers from all Hollywood films at once.

The worst of the killers, the tattooed mustache, looks like a hard-drinking Polish plumber. His colleagues, in the excitement of battle, scream, without an accent, in Russian: “Die!”, “If you’re lying, you won’t get away!” and “Get out, rat!” This detail remains unexplained. After all, the conspiracy was made by hawks from the military-industrial complex who hated Sawyer—the ideal “Obama we lost,” and, frankly, never found—for shaking hands with the Iranian president and intending to withdraw troops from the Middle East. How did the Russians end up in company with a Nazi who planted a bomb at a post office where “too many blacks” worked, and a special forces soldier who went crazy in captivity of the jihadists? Obviously, for the role of cannon fodder they simply cast frightening-looking Russians who had already proven themselves in furious films, but in the heat of battle they began, out of habit, to yell in their native language.

After all this, it’s even somehow funny to talk about the political message embedded in the film, although it undoubtedly exists and makes you think about what wonderful things are happening in Hollywood. Patented liberal Ben Affleck, at the height of the war hysteria around Iran, is filming “Operation Argo” about how the guys from the CIA, as they say in films about the special services, kicked the ass of brutal Islamists. But Emmerich, who previously seemed not to have been caught in civic activism, explained that only people with a brain tumor can dream of a war with Iran. Moreover, with a tumor of both hemispheres at once.
