
President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the abolition of the Federal Service for Financial Markets from September 1, the Kremlin press service reports . The functions of the abolished service will be transferred to the Central Bank.
The government was instructed to ensure the conduct of liquidation procedures, the continuity of the functions of regulating, monitoring and supervision in the field of the financial market when transferring their Central Bank, as well as the preservation of the personnel potential of the FSFR.
In addition, the decree contains an order to the Government to transfer the property of the abolished federal service to the Central Bank, including real estate, which is necessary for the implementation of the functions of regulating, monitoring and supervision in the field of the financial market. As a result, the head of the Central Bank will receive authority unique in the history of the institution.
On June 24, the Central Bank headed Elvira Nabiullina. She replaced Sergei Ignatiev in this post, whose third four -year term in this post came to an end, the last possible by law. In April, the State Duma approved Nabiullina as the head of the Central Bank on the proposal of the president. For her appointment, 360 deputies voted, against - 20, abstained alone. Nabiullina said that in general she intends to maintain the continuity of the Central Bank policy.
In 2007-2012, Nabiullina was the Minister of Economic Development. Then she worked as an assistant to the president on economic issues.
