On Thursday, the general director of "Yandex" announced the death of Segalovich. “We were friends with Ilyusha from school, sitting at the same desk for four years. And then we did Yandex together. He was gone tonight. Everything happened too quickly and unexpectedly,” he wrote.
After some time, Volozh denied the message. "Segalovich is in a coma, his brain does not show signs of life, it is connected to an artificial respiration apparatus," said Volozh during a conference call.
As Volozh noted, the last time Segalovich spoke "in front of our chibulsky guys last Thursday." “I don’t know how to replace its encyclopedicity in technology and a pure vision of the product. But he reserved a whole new generation of programmers, a whole school. And his ethical standards set the level of all of us,” he wrote.
In recent years, Segalovich served as the technical director of Yandex. He owned 2.5 percent of capital and 6.87 percent of the Yandex votes, was a member of the board of directors of the company. In addition, together with his wife Maria, he was engaged in charity work in the framework of the Mary Children charity foundation.
