The number of streams of songs by the American band Bloodhound Gang on the Yandex.Music service on Saturday, August 3, increased 4.5 times compared to the average number of streams last week after the scandal with the incident with the Russian flag at the band’s performance in Odessa, they reported Yandex on Monday.

Yandex also recorded a sharp increase in the number of requests for information about the Bloodhound Gang group in the search engine. On Friday, when reports of the incident first appeared on RuNet, users asked about the group about 5,000 times. On Saturday, when a number of government officials made harsh comments about the members of the Bloodhound Gang - in particular, State Duma deputies from United Russia, Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky and Governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachev, Yandex received 38,000 queries about the group, and on Sunday – 46,500 times.

“From January 2012 to July 2013, the number of requests about the group remained unchanged: on average, users were interested in the group no more than 500 times a day,” noted Yandex.

The scandal surrounding the Bloodhound Gang began last Friday, when a video of the group’s performance at a club in Odessa on July 31 appeared on the RuNet. During the performance, Evil's bass guitarist Jared Hasselhoff stuffed a Russian flag into his pants and then threw it into the crowd. Later, the musician apologized for his outburst, explaining it as an impulse. But Bloodhound Gang's performance at the Kubana rock festival in the Krasnodar region, scheduled for August 2, was canceled at the last moment. The musicians left Russia.

On Monday, Senator Ruslan Gattarov sent the head of the Federal Migration Service Konstantin Romodanovsky a proposal to ban the group members from entering Russia. For its part, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced on Monday that it had opened a criminal case for desecration of the Russian flag.

The number of Bloodhound Gang streams on Yandex.Music has increased 4.5 times
