The candidate for the position of Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin decided not to participate in the election television and radio department. According to Interfax, the head of the campaign headquarters Sobyanin, State Duma deputy Lyudmila Shvetsova, announced this on Saturday.
“Today it is already possible to remove all questions and say that the candidate for Moscow mayor Sergei Sobyanin will not participate in the debate, but will focus on his election work, on direct communication with Muscovites, with voters,” she said.
According to Shvetsova, making such a decision, Sobyanin consulted with his headquarters.
“Sergey Semenovich asked the headquarters, and we argued, setting out“ for ”and“ against ”they said about his opinion. And they expressed his wish that he did not participate in the debate. He accepted our point of view, he agreed with this,” she said and added that Sobyanin “knows the city thoroughly”. "He can answer any question that Muscovites ask him, in communication with whom he, as an acting mayor of the city, is not experiencing a shortage," she said.
According to Shvetsova, the possibility of participating in the debate must be provided to other candidates for the post of mayor of Moscow. "The possibility of debate must be provided for use by other candidates so that they can appear more understandable to Muscovites," she said.
"Debat is an opportunity, not an obligation. Each candidate has the right to choose the right decision for himself, what to do in relation to this opportunity," Schvetsova added.
Sobyanin himself previously stated that he had not yet decided whether he would participate in the election debate, but he did not have a “special desire” to take part in them. “To continue and continue to distribute the gingerbread with the opposition - if I assent it and make them more famous - I would not want to,” he explained.
The debate of candidates for mayors of Moscow will be held on August 12, 14 and 16 at 21:00 on the Moscow -24 television channel, and on August 26, 28 and 30 at 8:00 on the trust "Trust". The duration of all programs will be about an hour.
“All candidates who are present on the air are debated at the same time. There will be no pair debate at the same time. We invite all six, and they are discussing with each other. Our format is the same on all channels,” said Yuri Zhiganov, director of the Joint Media Media Media Media. He also clarified that the debate both on television and on the radio will pass on the air. Earlier, he argued that there were no technical capabilities for this, but on Tuesday he said that "the opportunity was found."
All five rivals of Sobyanin in the mayor’s election insisted on the debate on the live broadcast. On August 4, the editor -in -chief of the Echo of Moskvy radio station Alexei Venediktov appealed to all candidates with a proposal to conduct the debate on the air.
