Megafon has applied to register two trademarks and is holding a competition for a new logo. reports this The newspaper Izvestia .
As the Izvestia newspaper learned, in July of this year MegaFon submitted two applications to Rospatent for trademark registration. The applications indicate variations of two images of the company’s new logo: in one case, a stylization of the “@” symbol is used to resemble the current logo with a person’s face, in the other, two units form the letter “M”.
MegaFon itself did not comment on the declared trademarks, but said that work on the corporate identity is part of the routine work of the marketing department. At the same time, other operators have never registered brand names that they did not plan to use in the future, the press services of MTS and Beeline told Izvestia.
In addition, MegaFon recently announced a competition to create a new logo, and three Russian design studios have already announced their participation in it. According to some market participants, the tender for its creation should be completed in August. It is unknown when the company is going to present the new brand and whether its concept will be changed.
The current visual presentation of Megafon is older than the corporate styles of its competitors. The last time the company changed it was in 2001, when it launched a network in Moscow. Beeline switched to the black and yellow side in 2005, and MTS placed an egg on its logo in 2006.
