The world is shocked by a tragedy in the town of Tal-Abjad in the north of Syria, where 450 Kurdish hostages were executed-members of the Kurdish militia families. Among the dead are 120 children, the rest are women and old people. Damascus assigned the responsibility for the crime to militants from the opposition group "Jabhat al-Nusra." Who actually stands behind this?
The Syrian Kurdistan, who has long considered the island of stability in the country's flame in the country - the conflict in Syria has already carried away more than 100 thousand lives - he massively took up the weapons after the murder of July on July 30 of the Syrian Kurds of Isa Khuso. It was then that the Committee of People's Protection, the battle wing of the Kurdish Party of the Democratic Union (PDS), called on the Kurds to repulse the Islamists.
Kurds are good warriors. During the battles, they not only knocked out Islamists from several cities, but also captured one of the field commanders of the “Free Army of Syria” (SAR)-Abu Musab, who called, by the way, a Chechen. In response to this, the militants of Jabhat al-Nusra (“Victory Front”) captured hostage members of the Kurdish militia families, storming two Kurdish villages near the economic capital of Syria-Aleppo. As a result, the Kurds of Abu Musab released, but the Islamists did not restrain their word.
And on August 5, photos with corpses of children and women appeared on the Internet against the backdrop of destroyed houses, as well as a video on which militants pour gasoline and set fire to three men, presumably Kurds. Following this, the Iranian television channel Press TV, close to the Syrian and Iranian intelligence services, issued the news: the massacre in Tal-Abjad is the work of the Salafite militants from the Jabhat al-Nusra. This version was immediately picked up by all the world media.
And here questions arise. As always, the main one: who is beneficial?
"
“The Free Army of Syria” is no longer there, but there is “al-Nusra”. And this is the main victory of Assad
"
Military mass in Tal-Abjad is absolutely meaningless. The Kurds released Abu Musaba, there was nothing to avenge them in such a harsh way. The task of the killers was different - to inflate an international scandal, to finally discredit the Syrian rebels. The task was undoubtedly fulfilled: after all, even the Supreme Commissar of the UN Human Rights Navanetham Pillei immediately stated that in Syria, "opposition forces should not think that they are invulnerable in the face of justice."
From the very beginning of the conflict, Bashar Assad does not get tired of repeating that he is not fighting with a “democratically tuned opposition”, but with terrorists who captured half the country. And from the very beginning, he did not have enough arguments in favor of this thesis. Since the beginning of 2012, the combat detachments of the Syrian opposition, not without the help of Ankara, managed to unite in the “Free Army of Syria” with their headquarters and the rudiments of a single management system. Every day, 30-50 Syrian Sunnis soldiers were deserted in SAS. By the way, there were Alavites among the fugitives, sharply critical to the regime.
And then Assad-Sin, not without the hint of Iranian advisers, recalled the successful experience of the Assad-Father: during and after the war in Lebanon in 1975-1990, Syrian intelligence services successfully manipulated militarized groups. Those not only made a split and confusion into the ranks of the anti -Syrian forces in Lebanon, but also made real enemies. Namely, this was necessary for Damascus, who played in Lebanon according to the classical scheme “Separate and conquer”.

The same thing happened in Syria. Since the beginning of 2013, the radicals began to act actively at the Syrian theater of military operations-Jabhat al-Nusra, Jund Ashham, based in the Lebanese lag of the Ain al-Hele refugee, the Syrian Islamic Front, the Islamic Front of the Liberation of Syria, Liva Al-Tauhid. Mentions of SAS are less and less in military reports. Many have the impression that the regime is really fighting with the international terrorist international, that the united opposition has not formed, and if Bashar leaves, even greater chaos will come in the country than now - they say, everyone has an example of Iraq and Libya before their eyes. The massacre in Tal-Abjad has finally strengthened many in the opinion: Assad is a son of a bitch, but still less than Al-Qaeda.
The mass murder of peaceful Kurds is beneficial primarily to Bashar Assad. A suspicion creeps up that the massacre in Tal-Abjad is an episode of the psychological war, which the Syrian special services have successfully waged the last year. It was they that directed the tragedy.
The regime in Damascus today is confident in victory as never before. Behind him, Iran, helping with money, weapons and people, and Hezbollah, whose fighters fight side by side with Assad’s soldiers and take one outpost of the rebels after another for him. But the external support of the Syrian resistance forces tirelessly weakens. Against the backdrop of the situation in Egypt and Tunisia, where Islamic governments caused a sharp popular rejection, Syria ceased to be a priority issue for the League of Arab states and even Europe: the embargo for the supply of weapons to Syria was canceled, but there are less and less hopes for real supplies. The cash flow was impoverished from Qatar: the new young emir Tamim al-Tani is inclined to pay more attention to the situation within the country. In addition, the Arab neighbors of Syria with horror saw that there was no one to help more, in fact. Numerous groups of various kinds are atrocious in the country, for many of which jihad is not a struggle for democracy, but violence for violence ...
Bottom line: the army of the regime is intact and fights. "Jabhat al-Nusra"-too. But the "Free Army of Syria" really is not there. And this, no matter how further events are taking shape, can already be considered the main success of Bashar al -Assad.
