On Wednesday evening in Kirov, the end wall of a residential two-story brick building, located at the address: st. Svobody, 84. As Elena Luchinina, deputy head of the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Kirov Region, said, the police duty station received a report of an incident in an eight-apartment building at about 20.00. “At the time the wall collapsed, none of the residents were in the house, so no one was injured. The building is dilapidated, people lived on the first floor,” said a representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The scene of the incident was immediately cordoned off by police officers. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs clarifies, night watch will be organized to protect public order and the property of residents.

However, the residents of the two-story building (two retired women and the adult sons of one of them) refused to leave their home: they wrote a written refusal to move to a flexible housing stock. “They were offered a maneuver fund back in February of this year and on the day of the incident too. They wrote a refusal,” the press service of the city administration reported. According to the municipality, the majority of residents of the building left the apartments long ago, retaining only their registration in it. The second floor of the house is completely empty, as are some of the apartments on the first floor. “The pre-revolutionary building was declared unsafe in February 2013. Officially, this house is not included in the resettlement program. The official inclusion will most likely happen in the fall, but since houses recognized as unsafe in 2009 are now being resettled, it is accordingly difficult to say when the turn will come to this house,” the municipality explained, adding that, most likely, a decision will be made not to strengthen the damaged wall, and finally collapse the remaining part of the house.
