On August 12 on the crowdfunding platform Planeta . ru A project to raise funds for the study of the technical condition of the former water tower of UZTM in Yekaterinburg, better known as the White Tower. The initiator of the idea was the public association of young architects and activists of the Arch-Group Podelniki, which last year officially received an abandoned monument to the Soviet avant-garde for free use. The amount necessary for the examination and publication of materials - 80 thousand rubles - managed to collect in just eight days. This is far from the only example of how folk money helps, if not completely restored, then at least to save from complete destruction of the destroying monuments of architectural heritage. COLTA . Shukhov Tower in Polibin

About the tower

The Shukhov Tower in the Polibin is designed by the engineer and architect V.G. Shukhov in 1896 for the All -Russian Industrial and Art Exhibition in Nizhny Novgorod. After the exhibition, she was transported to the village of Polibino near Kulikovo Paul. The tower is the first in the world of hyperboloid structure. It is considered a unique monument of engineering thought. Today, the condition of the tower is critical - corrosion was struck by almost all structures, the threat of partial destruction of parts is great. The collection of funds for the restoration of the monument is engaged in the Fund for the Development of Science, Culture and Arts "Shukhovskaya Tower" .

At the first stage of restoration, it is supposed to establish protection against corrosion of all elements of the tower to stop further gradual destruction. The required amount is 9 974 345 rubles.

The exact estimate of the second stage can be made only after cleaning the tower. During the second stage, the defective elements of the hyperboloid, repair of the lower ring of the base, repair of the stairs, strengthening and restoration of the tank, restoration of the upper observation deck will be replaced. The estimated amount of the production of these works is 32,267,000 rubles.

A unique monument of Russian stone architecture. The Church of the Nativity of Christ was built at the end of the 18th century at the source of the Shaksna River. In the early 1960s, Krokhino, Karlugino and other settlements of the Belozersky district were flooded when creating a deep-sea Volga-Baltic waterway. Entire villages were flooded. The Church of the Nativity of Christ was no exception. Today, the Charity Fund “The Center for the Renaissance of the Cultural Heritage“ Krokhino ”” is engaged in its salvation.

Now, the restoration of the church is required to carry out emergency work, including strengthening the foundation, structures of the building, collapses, then - the restoration of the preserved parts of the building. The basis of priority emergency work has been adopted the experience of the restoration and fraud of the Kalyazinsky bell tower of the Nikolaev Cathedral in Kalyazin. The bell tower was flooded in 1941 during the construction of the Volga-Balt, its collapse and restoration were made in the late 80s.
