Ekaterina Samutsevich hopes to receive 2 million rubles for insults from her former lawyer

August 20, Tuesday

The defendant “Pussy Riot case” Ekaterina Samutsevich filed an application with a request to recover two million rubles from her former lawyer Violetta Volkova as compensation for non -pecuniary damage in the case of protection of honor and dignity. Samutsevich believes that Volkova "extended information about her that did not correspond to reality and insulting her personality."

Ten accused in the Twelve case refused to participate in the trial , announcing the boycott to Judge Nikishina in connection with her refusal to satisfy the defense of the announcement of the protocols of the interrogation of the victim police officer Denis Moiseev.

The American actor Wanthtest Miller, who played one of the main roles in the series “Escape”, refused to participate in the St. Petersburg Film Festival in protest against the Russian Law on Gay Propaganda.

The Constitutional Court of Russia registered a complaint of representatives of the Kostroma Center for Support for Public Initiatives Foundation. The complaint says that the Federal Law on NPO violates five articles of the Russian Constitution.

Civil activist Vera Lavreshina was sent under house arrest until September 16. She was detained in Tver on August 16 at a procession in support of a member of another Russia, Sergei Cherepovsky. Lavreshin is accused of resistance to police officer.

Rossiyskaya Gazeta published a decree of President V. Putin on the organization of security measures in Sochi for the period of the 2014 Olympics . The decree defines the “control zones”, for which special permission is required. According to the document, from January 7 to March 21, 2014, any transport, except for railway, will be prohibited in Sochi, emergency services and cars registered in Sochi or have accreditation at the Olympics.
