The new law on the Academy (or rather, academies) is not caused by me of enthusiasm. Not because he liquidates the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, of which I am. I don’t know if the rams are needed now and whether it was needed before. The Academy of Medical Sciences was established in 1944 in accordance with the Decree of the Council of People's Commissars, signed by I.V. Stalin and Georgadze, and in the first version of the bill it was planned to be eliminated.

I am not a fan of Stalin, but this decree of 1944, in my opinion, did not harm, or even was useful. In general, some symbols of prestige - orders, degree, title - create a certain atmosphere of competition and can be useful to a certain extent. The new law actually eliminates not only the industry academies, but also the RAS, as it equates the correspondent of the agricultural academy or ramps with the Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, which makes the academician the title of mockery, with all due respect to the members of the members. When in December 1988 I became a member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR, it never occurred to me to consider myself worthy of the title of academician of the Academy of Sciences.
