The governor of the Chelyabinsk region, Mikhail Yurevich, at a meeting in Khabarovsk with President Vladimir Putin, took the opportunity to recall that the Southern Urals have not yet received from the Russian government the promised compensation for damage from the meteorite explosion in the amount of 1 billion rubles. However, Putin has not yet responded.

According to Mikhail Yurevich, many of the works to restore buildings after a meteorite explosion in the Southern Urals had to be carried out on credit and then paid for from the regional budget. At the same time, “meteorite” money “is about to arrive in the Chelyabinsk region, but has not yet arrived.” The governor emphasized that even if the region does not now receive the promised federal billion rubles, the authorities will pay the contractors. But this will lead to the formation of new holes in the budget. Let us remind you that its deficit today is more than 17 billion rubles. “Our budget has grown this year compared to last year by 7%, but we can’t manage to reach 1 billion,” the press service of the head of state quotes Mikhail Yurevich.

Vladimir Putin listened to the governor’s report, but left the issue of compensation unattended.

Meanwhile, as Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Chelyabinsk Region Igor Murog told Znak.com, the regional administration has no doubt that a reaction will follow. “The problem was voiced to the president, I’m sure he heard it, there will be a reaction in the near future,” the deputy prime minister said. “We hope for positive results.”

Meanwhile, as a source of our online newspaper reported in business circles, the problem with paying for the work of firms restoring institutions in the region after a meteorite explosion should be resolved within the next month. “That is why,” our interlocutor is sure, “the trial on the claim of the Investstroy company (the debt to it is 4 million 800 thousand rubles - editor’s note) against school No. 9 of the city of Korkino and the local administration was yesterday postponed to the beginning of October.”

However, even in this case, the glaziers do not intend to give up the trial. As the manager of the consulting company “Legal Expert” Olga Popova (representing the interests of the “affected” companies in court) told our online newspaper, companies that have not yet been paid for their work expect to receive at least small compensation.

Let us recall that a meteorite exploded in the sky over Chelyabinsk on February 15, 2013. As a result, more than 1.5 thousand people were injured, but, fortunately, there were no casualties. The shock wave broke glass in the houses of many settlements. The very next day after the explosion, restoration work began in the region. Window workers needed to restore the glazing as soon as possible. And they were promised to pay the lion's share of the funds for this from the federal treasury. However, our region has still not received the promised compensation. Meanwhile, only businessmen working in the Korkinsky district were not paid an additional amount of about 60 million rubles.

Yurevich asked Putin to transfer the promised “meteorite” billion to the Southern Urals: “Without it, our budget will not work.” There has been no reaction from the President yet
