And the “victims” are appointed by security forces, who just committed criminal acts - excess of official powers, beating, causing harm to health, illegal imprisonment.

It’s not scary to be hardly detained, arrested, where it is worse for silently observing what is happening, to live with a restless conscience, with a sense of my own powerlessness.

I did not immediately notice that Vera did not have a stick in the hands of which I usually saw her in Moscow. Only when we got off the train, I saw how much it is lame and how hard it is to go. A few years ago, Vera suffered multiple fractures of the legs as a result of falling from a height. To my question why she does not draw up disability, Vera replied that she did not want to feel disabled. And I didn’t take a wand with me to get used to it without it.

Leaving the station building, we said goodbye. I went to the court of the Central District of Tver, and Vera a few hours later she became a participant in a bright street action in defense of Sergei Cherepovsky, with any authorities, of course, not agreed. And then - political prisoner and prisoner of conscience.

Maybe someone will be skeptical of the style of her protest. But that moral imperative who drives Vera Lavreshina in her protest activity is perfect. The aggravated civil conscience is a sign of the health of the soul. And the faith is certainly the right to observe indifferently and silently, how the power is atrocious, painfully and ashamed, and it is scary to inactive.

On such feelings, civil society is formed. If it were presented with us not by units, but by the majority - neither these cynical courts and arrests, nor the criminally strict detention of Vera Lavreshina with the factory of criminal proceedings against her for defending the political prisoner were unthinkable.

Will society be healed? Will he be able to fall into moral depression, not allowing yourself to convince yourself that the arrest for the expression of a civil position is the norm? Do not lose faith in their own strengths, in meaningful confrontation with political repression?
