The island state of Niue, which is part of the Kingdom of New Zealand, released in 2013 a set of three silver coins depicting scenes from the popular comedy Leonid Gaidai "Caucasian captive or new adventures of Shurik." Coins are made in color, the face value of each - two dollars of New Zealand.

On the obverse of coins, the Profile of Queen Elizabeth II is depicted. On the reverse - three scenes from the film "Caucasian captive": on one coin - portraits of Shurik and Nina, on the second - Comrade Saakhov and Jabrail, and on the third - the trinity of unsuccessful bandits of a coward, baldbes and experienced.

These coins only went on sale in Russia. A set of three coins can be purchased for 11500 rubles.

And just the other day, the Crimean customs officers at the Simferopol Airport seized three such coins from a citizen of the Russian Federation who tried to go through the Green Corridor, said that he simply did not consider it necessary to declare these coins, because they did not know that they were subject to mandatory declaration. A protocol on violation of customs rules was drawn up for a Russian, and the coins were detained, reports Newsru.ua .

The state of Niue, whose population is about 1,700 people, previously produced coins dedicated to the heroes of films and cartoons. Two years ago, the monetary courtyard of this island state released silver coins with color images of the heroes of Star Wars. And these coins have become official payment funds of the island.
