Detection equipment of the Russian missile attack warning system recorded the launch of two ballistic targets in the Mediterranean Sea, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported. The head of the ministry, Sergei Shoigu, reported this to Putin. The missile launch was detected at 10.16 am by the Russian warning system in Armavir. The missiles' flight path runs from the central Mediterranean towards the east coast, the Ministry of Defense reports.

The Pentagon press service official said that the department has no data on the launches of ballistic targets in the Mediterranean Sea, RIA Novosti reports.

Later, the agency, citing a source in Damascus, reported that the missiles fell into the sea. NATO is checking data on the missile launch, the agency reports, citing an unnamed representative of the alliance's headquarters in Brussels.

Military experts contacted by the Daily Journal have so far refused to comment on these reports due to the lack of any specific data.

Later, a representative of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, which initially stated that they had no information about the missile launch, said that the launches were carried out by Israel and the United States. The launch of the Ankor target missile and the testing of the radars of the Hetz-2 and Hetz-3 missile defense systems were successful.

Meanwhile, Syrian Ambassador to Russia Riad Haddad said that the Russian side allegedly has evidence of the involvement of armed groups in the chemical attack near Damascus on August 21. Russia allegedly has information about the place and time of the launch of a missile with chemical weapons into Eastern Ghouta near the Syrian capital. Speaking at the Public Chamber, Haddad said that Russia allegedly presented evidence along with photographs.
