Beslan lesson

On September 3, there were nine years of the Beslan tragedy. Only two more years will pass - and those guys who went to that school on that fateful day on the first grade should end it. And this non -commissioned date will be more symbolic than any anniversaries ...

Beslan is a terrible, perhaps the worst page of our modern history. But even she somehow began to go to the periphery of consciousness, washed, turn into part of the historical calendar. So television passed her attention. And suddenly, completely unexpectedly, I found out that my daughter, who was now in the third grade, had a lesson dedicated to the tragedy in Beslan on September 3!

I'm not sure that in previous years there were such lessons. But in any case ... And here I don’t even know how to formulate it ... I can’t say what was “nice”, but it seemed to me very correctly that they decided to hold such a lesson.

However, the question immediately arises: how to conduct such lessons? How to tell the children about the tragedy, from which an adult man’s hair becomes on end. My wife, when she answered her daughter's questions, eventually burst into tears. How to explain this to the child, in what words, with what details? What can he understand from this, in his nine years, when parents try to protect him from “chernukha” and heavy experiences as possible?

Our teachers said that they were also very afraid and thought for a long time how to approach this topic. They wanted not only to speak, but also to show photos. And they consulted with a psychologist that in this case it was possible to show children in order not to cause complete shock. We consulted, chose - and still one girl became ill during the story.

It was a very difficult lesson. From which the children, despite all the efforts of teachers, understood a little. They asked where all this happened? Where is this Beslan? Is it in Russia? Someone decided that the atomic bomb was thrown into school! They asked about some completely household things, like that, are they studying at this school now? In children's heads, all this simply did not fit. And, of course, in this case it was impossible to explain to them why such a tragedy took place, what war and in the name of which went (and continues to go) in the Caucasus. If even adults do not dare to say who is to blame for the fact that dozens of children died in a Beslan school, then how to understand this to children?

Yes, probably, in any case, it is too early for them to understand this. But I still consider it right that the lesson about Beslan has passed in our school. That my daughter, even if I did not understand far, far from everything, found out that one day in the distant city, which is in Russia in Russia, the children went to school on September 1 and no longer returned home. And they will never finish this school - neither in two years, nor after no matter how much years later.

My daughter was born in the same 2004, like almost all her classmates. May she and her friends know and remember those guys. And when they grow up, it will already be easier for them to deal with why it became possible what happened in Beslan in that terrible September.
