In Moscow, scientists reached a rally against the reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences

About 1200 representatives of Russian science took part today, September 10, in a rally on Suvorovskaya Square in the center of Moscow. They protested against the bill on the reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to Interfax in the organizing committee of the rally, the action was agreed and passed calmly. In total, 1,200 people took part in it, "all of them are representatives of Russian science, and there were no parties and movements with us."

At the same time, ITAR-TASS reports that 200 people entered Suvorovskaya Square, according to the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow-up to 500.

According to the results of the rally, the participants adopted a resolution with criticism of the bill. “Tomorrow we will send this resolution to the State Duma, the President, and to other bodies of the legislative and executive branch of Russia,” said one of the organizers of the rally.

On June 27, Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced the beginning of the academic reform. The bill submitted to the State Duma provided, in particular, the unification of the Russian Academy of Sciences with the Academies of Medical and Agricultural Sciences, the transfer of all scientific institutions to the maintenance of a new federal agency, which was to be loyal for this purpose, as well as the production of all corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences in academics.

The deputies examined the bill in two readings within three days. The initiative caused a sharp protest of the scientific community - RAS employees held numerous protests. The third reading is expected this fall.
