The 2013 Buker Boker Prize:
The chairman of the jury, the English writer Robert McFarlein, noted that this year very different books were presented in the short list. Indeed, in the novel of the youngest finalist, 28-year-old Eleanora Katton, 832 pages, in the book of Kolma Toybin-only 104, her place of action-the biblical near the East, the events of the novel Katton occur in New Zealand of the XIX century, Jumpha Lahiri writes about India of the 1960s, Rut Odecy-about modern Tokyo, the oldest participant. Short Last 67-year-old Jim Crace-about England of the XVIII century.
The “Long List” refutes the fears that the modern novel has become boring and predictable, according to a message on the Buker Prize website , and this season it will be especially difficult for the jury to make the final choice.
Last year, the award was awarded to the Englishwoman Hilary Manteel. She received her second booker for the historical novel “ Bend the Bodies”.
