Literary and memorial State Museum V.V. Mayakovsky was opened in 1974 in the house 3/6 on the passage of Serov, where the poet lived and worked from 1919 to 1930. The basis of its collection was compiled by funds opened in 1938 by the library-museum V.V. Mayakovsky. To date, the main fund of the museum has more than 50 thousand storage units.
Colta.ru publishes an open statement of the initiative group to preserve the exposition of the Mayakovsky Museum:
Since December 2012, the museum of V.V. Mayakovsky is in an suspended state, museum staff, public figures are concerned about the possible complete or partial destruction of the exposition under the guise of repair work. For overhaul, it is planned to complete or partial dismantling of the exposure, which will lead to its complete destruction. According to the author of the exposition, Evgeny Amapur, the unique exposition is not subject to restoration in its original form.
At the moment, there is a closing date of the museum - September 15 and numerous promises that the exhibition will be preserved, that a commission for the supervision of the repairs will be created that a scientific council will be formed, but there is still no specific information - only general phrases. There is still no order to close from the Department of Culture, a public hearings have not been held whether the authors of the exposition will be included in the expert council.
The museum is the third in attendance by foreigners after the Kremlin arms chamber and diamond fund. To date, the unique exposition has gained worldwide recognition, and many experts have been recognized as a work of art.
