Verizon Communications Inc. on Wednesday will hold a record placement of corporate debt for the global market in the amount of $49 billion, Reuters reported .

Verizon needs these funds to finance its acquisition of a 45% stake in the Verizon Wireless joint venture from Vodafone Group. Transaction amount: $130 billion.

Verizon's bond issue will be the largest in history and will exceed Apple's $17 billion corporate bond issue in April 2013.

Demand for Verizon's bonds has exceeded $100 billion, prompting the company to adjust its original plans to raise $20 billion this week. The yield spread on Verizon's 10-year bonds is expected to be 5.2%.

The placement of Verizon bonds will be organized by 11 banks, including JPMorgan Chase & Co., Morgan Stanley, Bank of America and Barclays.

Information that the British Vodafone and the American Verizon Communications had reached an agreement on a $130 billion deal, under which Vodafone would sell Verizon Communications 45% of its shares in their joint venture Verizon Wireless, appeared on September 1, 2013.
