Yesterday's message from the Vedomosti newspaper that the head of the Moscow Culture Department, Sergei Kapkov, could leave his post, caused a storm of responses, which they even managed to dubulate "crying Yaroslavna." And theatrical life, of course, was changed for the better. I am absolutely convinced that we need not point, but systemic transformations. But, unfortunately, one city department cannot implement them on their own and even more so one official: a large -scale reform of the theater sphere is associated with a change in the legislative framework and requires the total efforts of officials of various levels and public organizations. Kapkov’s experience is valuable: he proved that huge creative energy has been accumulated in Moscow. And it was enough to open some valves, remove some shutters so that this energy burst out. For the last season and the way the current season begins, it is clear how much more intense and unusual the theatrical life of the capital has become. We are used to the intellectual party that the official is always bad, because the representative of the authorities. And power is Puten. But if an official from the party of the authorities, thrown into lawns, cuts off the lawns well, I, in principle, do not care what his party beliefs are. If the official makes some efforts to improve the cultural life of the city, he is much nicer to me in the opposition of an employee of the theater Niva, who is most of everything in the world is afraid of any change. I can’t say that I agreed with all the actions and appointments of Kapkov, but the fact remains: he turned out to be a much big Westerner than most of our theater figures.

This is very sad. Sergei Alexandrovich, a man whom I respect and whom I trust personally, did two important things. In addition to the fact that everyone is publicly loved and barking and try to talk and polemicize with him, he still has one trait that remains of us as if invisible, and it is fundamental. He can be accused of anything and any colors, but he was the first head of the Moscow Department, who over twenty years rearranged the tasks of cultural workers. He tried to explain to them and explained that they work not for the sake of the customer, that is, the Department of Culture, but for the sake of Muscovites. And he met, of course, with monstrous resistance. And all new people who came to work with him-two or three years ago it was unrealistic to present them working with the mayor in these conditions. This was due to the fact that we believed him, he did not deceive us, and he clearly explained what he wants - for the city to change for people, it does not matter at all what political views, gender and orientation are these people. So that this city is comfortable for people in general. And, in fact, he achieved this for a long time. If the city decided that all the projects that he began (theaters, libraries, houses of culture) are possible without him, then there is some strange idea of ​​life. A lot of people came only because he explained why he was doing this, what is the meaning in his actions, and the authorities were believed and believed. Whether a person will also be believed and who will also explain his position - I am not sure.

Yes, I believe that most people who are already accustomed to what Sergei Kapkov and his team give out, will regret his care. This is a young, living person who absolutely meets the modern idea of ​​a strategist who determines some important things in the development of the city who understands what he does is equal to European, civilized standards, who understands that society should be open, friendly, modern, that a person should feel comfortable, interact with power and feel in a dialogue, which the city should be intelligent from who to what political party is to which political party refers. It is important for a resident of the city that he would live in this city, comfortably, pleasant to be respected as a person, give him the opportunity to prove himself, so that he would be convenient, diverse that he has the opportunity to function as he functions in Berlin or Paris. And gradually all this began to happen. These trends are felt by everyone, and it will be very sad if something changes in this sense.

Honestly, for me, Kapkov is the figure rather virtual than real. His presence was very noticeable on Facebook, and in real life - mine - almost nothing. Once, the daughters were reduced to the Central Bank after his reconstruction, but I did not like it there. Around fashionable food-pitsa establishments that I have to the light bulb, and the feeling of retro space has gone-such a charming sniffiness that provoked memories of campaigns there with my parents in childhood and in general I am sweet-and even here and there, the foreheads in black are blocked by the paths leading to the evil troops. They say that the Bauman’s garden in the neighborhood also became steep, but I still haven’t reached there-after Gorky’s park, he somehow doesn’t pull very much. No, this is probably good - like the paths for cyclists, but I did not really understand where Sobyanin ends and Kapkov begins - and vice versa.

Perhaps pity will appear later, when some version of Medinsky will come to his place, they will begin to curl up funding of ideologically non-constant cultural projects, etc. - Then it will become clear how much Kapkov did for Moscow culture, how good it was. Of course, he would prefer that pity would not arise, but the tendency of immersion in more and more faster shit is painfully stable at today's guest, so the main hope is to replace the entire “system”.
