Rosneft President Igor Sechin denied reports of buying a share of billionaire Suleiman Kerimov in the largest world manufacturer of potassium fertilizers Uralkali, Interfax reports. "Potassium is not yet included in the perimeter of our strategic interests," he said in response to a request to comment on the information about the transaction.
“Probably, these rumors are based on my recent negotiations in Belarus. But it must be understood that Rosneft has serious assets in this country - Mozersky refinery, a gas station network and good development prospects. And to put its work in Belarus, which is very far from the sphere of our strategic interests,” Sichin emphasized.
Sechin noted that the Rosneft strategy is aimed at further strengthening positions in the energy sector. The company's plans are associated with the active promotion of shelf projects, positioning in world markets, the development of the eastern petrochemical company. "In general, an increase in efficiency and eliminating the underestimation by the market for the fundamental value of the company," he emphasized.
Earlier on Sunday, the Prime Agency, citing a close to negotiations, announced the inclusion of Rosneft in the struggle for Kerimov’s shares . This could call into question the completion of the transaction with the former head of the state building banker Vladimir Kogan.
On Friday, RIA Novosti reported with reference to an unnamed source that Kogan bought a share of Kerimov in Uralkali. According to the agency, the amount of the transaction amounted to 3.7 billion dollars, and the buyer has already paid part of this amount. However, then representatives of Kerimov and Uralkalia refused to comment on information about the deal with Kogan.
Earlier it was reported that Kogan is trying to agree with the Sberbank on the allocation of a loan for a transaction. The head of finorganization, German Gref, refused to comment on the allocation of a loan to the banker.
On September 7, lawyer Alexander Dobrovinsky informed on his Facebook page with reference to a “very serious” source that the Banker K. from St. Petersburg became the buyer of the share of Kerimov in Uralkali . Subsequently, the managing company of Kerimov "NAFTA Moscow" denied information on the sale of securities.
The media were also recorded inapplicants for the “Uralkali” action of the owner of the AFK system by Vladimir Yevtushenkov, businessman Arkady Rotenberg, the owner of Russneft Mikhail Gutseriev and Norilskel. The market value of Kerimov’s share of 21.75 percent of shares is $ 3.4 billion. Sources reported that Kerimov asked for about $ 4.5 billion.
Uralkali was in the center of the international scandal after the company's general director Vladislav Baumertner was detained at the Minsk airport on August 26 after a meeting with the Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich, and Kermimov himself was put on the international wanted list. Baumertner was charged with abuse of authority in the framework of a criminal case on the activities of the Belarusian Potassium Company. A month earlier, July 30, Uralkali announced the termination of export sales through the Belarusian potassium company.
