In 2012, Farber was found guilty of abuse of authority and receiving a bribe and sentenced to eight years in prison. In the summer of this year, the Ostashkovsky City Court of the Tver region reduced the sentence of to seven years and one month. In early September, Vladimir Putin called the verdict "egregious occasion."
“Simultaneously with the idea of appealing the sentence, the prosecutor appeals with a request to restore the deadline for appealing the sentence. And we will consider it, ”Kurova said. According to her, the appeal period for the sentence has expired, and on September 24, the Ostashkovsky court will have to establish whether the deadline was missed for good reasons.
If the court makes a decision in favor of the prosecutor, then the regional court will consider the idea of the appeal of the sentence to Farber. At the same time, he will also consider the Farber’s defense complaints about the verdict.
