The philosopher Vadim Rabinovich died

The Russian philosopher, translator and culturologist Vadim Rabinovich died on Wednesday in Moscow, according to the website of the Russian Pen-Center.

Vadim Rabinovich was born on February 20, 1935 in Kyiv. In 1959 he graduated from the Moscow Chemical Technology Institute, worked as a chemical engineer at the factory and at the Institute of Buhmary Fossils of the USSR Academy of Sciences. In 1967, he defended his dissertation in chemistry - however, a month earlier he graduated from the Literary Institute, where he studied, in particular, from the poet Ilya Selvinsky.

The recognition of Rabinovich was brought by studies of alchemy: in 1971, the work “Symbolism in Western Alchemy and the tradition of Ibn -Rusda” was published, and in 1979 - the famous book “Alchemy as a phenomenon of medieval culture” (it was reprinted in 2012). Doctoral in philosophy ("The problem of the historical reconstruction of pre -scientific forms of knowledge"), based on the book, the scientist managed to protect only six years later: "I began to poison me who, out of an old habit, considered the alchemy pseudoscience, and here the alchemy is the phenomenon of culture!" Rabinovich worked at the Institute of Man of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy of Moscow State University named after Lomonosov, headed the Sector of the "Languages ​​of Cultures" of the Russian Institute of Culturology. In addition to scientific papers, I released three books of poems.
