The statement from Russian Helicopters states that Dmitry Petrov will work "in Rostec structures" and will remain on the board of directors of Russian Helicopters, where he will continue to oversee helicopter manufacturing issues. However, according to the publication's sources, Petrov may be appointed first executive vice president of the state-owned USC . Currently, there is no such position in the corporation, but it may appear as part of the new USC development strategy.

In his new position, Petrov will have to "focus on the operational work" of USC and oversee key areas of its activities, including the distribution of funding within the framework of state programs, state defense procurement, and military-technical cooperation, the source said. Others note that his powers will be broader than those of simple USC deputy heads. Petrov is seen as a person who "can take over the actual management of the corporation" and in the future "even become its president" or at least be able to ensure the company's operation in his absence. The final decision on replacing the head of USC may be made before the end of the year.

Petrov's candidacy suits the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov. Now the Ministry of Industry and Trade is actively asserting its position in shipbuilding and, in fact, determines the entire strategy of the industry; a person like Petrov is needed who will take on the solution of operational problems.

Dmitry Petrov worked in Vostochny Bank, Ergobank, Inkor-Bank, Guta-Bank and Federal Industrial Bank from 1993 to 2002. From 2002 to 2003, he was the executive director of ZGG-Zarubezhgaz and an adviser to the general director of Gazexport. From 2003 to 2006, he was a member of the board of the oil and gas company Itera.
