The Commission on the perpetuating of the memory of outstanding events and figures of Russian history and culture under the Department of Culture of the city of Moscow supported the proposal of Novaya Gazeta on the installation of the memorial plaque Anna Politkovskaya on the editorial building. And the Moscow government approved this decision.

Further - a creative competition in which seven projects of young architects and sculptors participated. The jury was headed by the famous sculptor Frangulian, the children of Anna Vera and Ilya Politkovsky, Sergey Polinkin (from the Department of Culture), Yuri Street (from Novaya Gazeta), Alexey Simonov (Architect Fund, Advisor to the Muscovitecture), Chulpan Khamatova, Yuri Shevchuk. The last word remained for Anna's relatives ...

The project of young talented guys won: sculptor Vanya Balashov and architect Petit Kozlov. The composition of the board is three torn notebooks made of foundry bronze. In the upper part there is a portrait and text: “Novaya Gazeta observer Anna Politkovskaya worked in this building from 1999 to 2006 before her tragic death.”

The memorial plaque to Anna Politkovskaya on the building of the editorial office of Novaya Gazeta in Potapovsky Lane will be opened on the anniversary of her death, October 7, at 13.00. The ceremony will be open. The close people of Ani, her friends, colleagues, politicians, artists, readers, everyone who remembers ... will take part in it ...

On October 4, in London for the seventh time they will be awarded the Anna Politkovskaya Award. The prize was established by the International Non -Governmenting Organization Reach All Women in War (“Help every woman in the fire of war”) and is awarded to women engaged in human rights in conflict zones. Those who, like Anna, defend the victims, often risking their own lives. The first laureate of the award in 2007 was Natalya Estemirova, killed two years later in Ingushetia.

The name of the winner of this year will become known only on Friday, October 4. He will be called the honorary guest of Sir Nicholas Winton, he is called the British Schindler - for the salvation of 669 Jewish children from occupied Czechoslovakia in 1939.

And in Berlin on October 7, a concert will be held in support of the innocent victims of violence and human rights violations in Russia “to Russia with love”. The world -famous musician, violinist and conductor Gidon Kremer gathered a whole constellation of outstanding musicians: Marta Argerich and Daniel Barenboy, Emmanuel Payu, Sergey Nakashmakov, Hata Buniatishvili, Gia Kancheli, etc. After the concert, the discussion "Do not intimidate us: Russian civil society under threat." On the eve of the maestro, Gidon Kremer extended his appeal:

My dear colleagues and friends!

I am asking you to support us, musicians from around the world who will play a concert in Berlin on October 7 in support of the innocent victims of violence and human rights violations in Russia. I ask you to show solidarity with everyone who is not indifferent to the future of the country.

On October 7, 2006, the famous journalist and human rights activist Anna Politkovskaya was killed in Moscow. Over the past decade, the number of victims and doubtfully condemned in Russia has increased exponentially. These are not only journalists and human rights activists, but also businessmen, lawyers and musicians. The names of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev, Sergey Magnitsky (a lawyer who died in a pre -trial detention center), Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Maria Alekhina (members of the Pussy Rait group) are known throughout the world. These names have become a symbol of the confrontation of the despotistical power and unfair law.

Courts are coming over the so -called "prisoners of the Bolotnaya" - young people who dared to take to the streets to protect their constitutional rights. An unprecedented strict investigation was carried out against the rural teacher Ilya Farber, who became the victim of local corrupt officials.

We are musicians. We are peaceful people. Our “weapon” is music, our task is to create, not destroy. Our goal is harmony. And we cannot remain indifferent to the suffering of other people. <...>

Our goal is not only to create excellent music, but also to provide effective assistance to those who really need it. <...>
