Thus, the ex-deputy of the Izhevsk City Duma Vasily Kryukov decided to protest against the decision of the republican administration to build a swimming pool and a skating rink on the territory of the abandoned Trinity cemetery.

“The construction of the sports complex actually began in 2007,” says Kryukov. - On the first day, excavators dug up a lot of human bones along with the earth. Local historians then stated that the city’s Trinity Cemetery, destroyed by the Bolsheviks in 1929, was previously located at the construction site. We began to write letters to the administration of the Republic of Udmurtia with a request to find another place for construction. However, we were refused: the territory of the cemetery was recognized by the President of the Republic, Volkov, as "the best place for building."

Kryukov and his numerous supporters tried to appeal the decision of the regional administration to the prosecutor's office, but the supervisory authority found no grounds for taking prosecutorial response measures.

After the wave of protests began, a criminal case was opened against Kryukov under articles 318 and 319 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (use of violence and insulting a representative of authority). 14 police officers who conducted a search in the office of the deputy, whom Kryukov allegedly beat and called names, appeared insulted. And later, another criminal case was initiated under Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (inciting hatred or enmity). Seeing how everything was spinning, Kryukov left for Germany, from where, through his supporters, he sent the aforementioned package to the president.

“Only the extraordinary situation of the ongoing crime, vandalism of shrines and moral standards made me, at the request of Izhevsk Orthodox activists, send you this letter along with human remains,” Vasily Kryukov wrote in an accompanying note.

In the reception room of the presidential administration, the fact of receiving a parcel with human remains was confirmed to a Novaya correspondent.

- Of course, an examination of the skull was immediately carried out. It turned out that he was already about a hundred years old, - says an employee of the presidential reception Svetlana Grafova. - We will respond to Mr. Kryukov's letter. The answer will be given by October 3rd.
