In the American state of California, the usual trial in the murder case ended with a curiol: the judge immediately after the counting of the sentence performed a marriage rite and congratulated the convicted person on the wedding. True, the killer will be able to know the joy of family life only half a century later.
The process in which the role of the defendant was played by the newlyweds Dann Desbrow took place in the city of San Diego, writes the newspaper Utsandiego . On September 17, the man was sentenced to 53 years in prison for murder. Immediately after this, the judge Patricia Kukson asked the majority of those present to leave the hall.
Only a few people remained in the room, in the society of which the minister of Themis with the Bible in her hands registered the marriage of 36-year-old Dann Desbrow with his lover named Destini.
The proof of the perfect rite was a romantic photograph in which Dann and Destini exchange a kiss in front of Judge Kukson.
It is even more surprising that Kukson congratulated the newlyweds with a vanilla cake, which she baked herself. True, to see the culinary creation of the judicial hands to the whole newlyweds was not destined. Kukson prudently cut the treat so as not to bring the knife to the meeting room, where at that time there is a dangerous criminal Desbrow.
Thus, the newlyweds only got a piece of pie, which could be pricked to plastic forks.
It should be noted that with the beginning of the wedding ceremony, Patricia Kukson seemed to be replaced: before that she showed stiffness and desire to read a harsh sentence as soon as possible. In particular, at the beginning of the meeting, the judge rejected the request for the revision of the case. She also refused to postpone the date of the sentence.
According to the lawyer Desbrow Steve Klein, even for him the incident was a complete surprise. “It was a special day from the beginning to the end. And I will touch the fact that she (Judge Kukson) satisfied the request for marriage. But I have not seen anything like this in her life,” the stunned lawyer explained.
As follows from the case file, Dann Desbrov killed Kevin Santos in 2003. For many years, it was not possible to expose the killer for many years, but in the end there was a witness who testified against Dan.
The defense of the defendant put forward a version of self -defense, but after a two -month trial, the jurisdorship issued the indictment. Desbrow was found guilty not only in the murder, but also in the threats of a witness.
Dann and Destini met almost twenty years ago, when the girl was only 16 years old. Destini became pregnant, after which the couple broke up. Only in January 2013 did she find Dann on social networks at the request of her son. However, by that time her chosen one had already been arrested and waited for the court.
Destini began to come to all hearing, and during the process, Dann made a 33-year-old mother of her child an offer, and she agreed to marry him. Destini asked Judge Kukson to marry them. The servant of Themis did not immediately agree, but after thinking she called Destini, reporting her readiness to fulfill the wedding ceremony.
Two days before the sentence, the secretary of Judge Kukson again contacted Destini and pedantically asked if everything was ready for the celebration: the rings, as well as documents certified by a notary.
We add that the wedding took place with increased safety measures: the groom was handcuffs all the time, the doors of the room were locked, and five police officers from the Sheriff Department followed everything that was happening.
Patricia Kukson, who showed an example of “justice with a human face,” became a judge in 1992 by decision of Governor of California Pia Wilson.
