
The Russians Alexander Menkov and Svetlana School were included in the short-list of applicants for awards presented by the best athlete and athletics of the year according to the International Association of athletics federations (IAAF), the organization’s official website reports.
From the expanded list of applicants, Russians Elena Isinbaeva were excluded, who at the Moscow World Championships won gold in jumping with the pole, as well as the runner Maria Savinova and the Khokok, Elena Lashmanova.
Menkov at the home championship won gold in length, and School became the best in the high -height jumping sector.
The short list of candidates for the prize included ten men and women. A survey starts on Tuesday, after which IAAF will announce three finalists in men and women on October 27.
