
Mikhail Saakashvili signed a decree on the pardon of all conventionally convicts and persons who have a criminal record. The exception is those who have committed especially serious crimes like an encroachment on life, sexual freedom and actions against the state. The process of receiving requests for pardon in the name of the president will begin on October 3.
The president announced on an amnesty for about 18 thousand conditionally convicted on August 19. The act on lifting the conclusion and criminal record for all amnestied and those who left the sentence, Saakashvili signed on the occasion of the holiday of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The promise was made on the eve of the presidential election in Georgia, which will be held on October 31, 2013. Saakashvili does not participate in them, but supports the candidate from among his supporters David Bakradze.
