Nadezhda Biohacker: A language for programming synthetic DNA has been created
In the future, “smart molecules” and the detectors of the disease are already at the cellular level

The language for planning synthetic DNA was described by them at the end of September in the journal Nature Nanotechnology. Just as computer scientists write their programs in Python or Java languages, chemists will be able to write teams for DNA molecules using a new language, indicating them how they should interact with the environment, being in a test tube or living cage. The proposed approach is recognized by scientists, it is not yet suitable for applying it in medical practice, but in the future it will help to create molecules that can “smartly” deliver medicines to the right place or be detectors of the disease at the cellular level. This is not surprising. The DNA world is complicated, meaningful, each gene has many functions, and to know this world is a task of more than one decade. Scientists came up from the other side, they proposed the path along which you can build something like DNA. Someday these ways will cross, and then a real miracle will happen ... but this is far from. “We actually started with abstract mathematical descriptions of the chemical system,” says Professor George Ziling, one of the participants in the study, “and then tried to build molecules in the DNA structure so that they were aimed at performing a specific task.” Today, when a biologist or chemist wants to create a certain molecular chain in the DNA structure, he is pushed into very difficult obstacles associated with the target restructuring of other systems with which this chain will interact. The new language, according to Ziling, will give these efforts much more maneuverability - many related problems will be given to the computer.
