
Russian universities worsened their positions in the 2013/14 International University Rating of the British magazine Times Higher Education. The highest place for Moscow State University: in the interval from the 226th to the 250s, last year it was in the 201-225 group.
TheTimes Higher Education rating was compiled on the basis of information provided by Thomson Reuters, which collected and evaluating the actual data on the activities of 10 thousand universities around the world.
“The best university in Russia - Moscow State University - is moving further from the 200 upper positions of the rating. But Moscow State University, as well as two other specialized university in Russia, includes the 100 best universities in natural sciences, ” RIA Novosti quotes the accompanying materials provided by the compilers of the rating.
In the natural sciences of Moscow State University , 63rd place, as well as the Moscow Physics and Technical Institute ( IFTI ). The Moscow Engineering Institute ( MEPhI ) took 74th place.
The leader of the rating for the third year in a row remains the California Technological Institute. Harvard University took second place, rising from the fourth, and divided it with the University of Oxford. Stanford University sank from the total second to fourth place, and the Massachusetts Technological Institute took fifth place. The United States retain leadership in the ranking, American universities occupy seven of the upper ten positions.
