They were selected from the “Long List” of the award, in which there were 24 works, including the novels of Nikolai Baytov, Maya Kucheskaya, Vadim Levental, Alexander Kabakov and Alexander Arkhangelsky. According to RIA Novosti , the jury of the Russian Boker at a press conference noted that they did not have enough Kabakov, Arkhangelsk and Kucheskaya from the authors of the Long List in the list of finalists.

The jury of the award includes last year Laureate Andrei Dmitriev (chairman), Vladimir Kantor, Elena Pogorelaka, Sergey Belyakov and Evgeny Margulis.
On December 4, the winner of the Russian Boker will be announced. It will receive 1.5 million rubles, finalists - 150 thousand rubles each. In addition, the “Russian booker” established a grant of 750 thousand rubles to translation of the novel by one of the finalists into English.
