Olympic fire went out in the Kremlin

In Moscow on Monday and Tuesday, an Olympic fire relay race will be held, RIA Novosti reports. Fire had to be restored from the reserve lamp.

The day before, during the ceremony of the meeting to the Kremlin, the Olympic torch went out in the hands of the 17-fold world on the submarine of Schavarsh Karapetyan, who became one of the first ten participants in the Russian part of the relay. This episode was broadcast on the air of all federal channels of Russia and around the world. The extinguished torch had to be lit from the usual lighter of one of the Kremlin guards.

President of the Sochi-2014 Organizing Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko explained the details of the incident. According to him, the cause of the incident was the error of an employee of the organizing committee who did not completely open the torch valve.

After the end of the Kremlin stage, the fire from Greece was restored using a spare lamp. The Olympic flame was lit in ancient Olympia at the end of September. On Saturday, at a special ceremony in Athens, it was transferred by Greece of Russia, and on Sunday arrived by plane in Moscow.

On Monday and Tuesday, part of the streets of Moscow will be blocked in connection with the relay. It is predicted that this can lead to a transport collapse.

In August 2012, it became known that the torches for the Olympic fire relay of Olympic Games in Sochi will cost about 200 million rubles. The Organizing Committee of the Olympiad decided to purchase a record number of torches, namely 16 thousand pieces. At London Games, they limited themselves to eight thousand.

The organizers decided not to conduct a tender, the order went to the Krasmash Krasnoyarsk plant, which is engaged in the production of intercontinental ballistic missiles, in particular, Sineva missiles controlled by the state. At the last stage of selection, he competed with the composite holding, which produces carbon fibers and fabrics based on them.

The Organizational Committee "Sochi -2014" claimed that the Olympic torch is burning under extreme conditions - at a speed of 60 km/h and even under water.

On the end of the Olympics in London Chernyshenko, he said that the Sochi Olympic Olympic Relay will become the most long of national relayers. According to him, 14 thousand torchs will take part in it, the route of which will pass through all 83 regions of Russia and will be more than 56 thousand kilometers.
