Today, October 8, the Murmansk Regional Court rejected the appeal of the lawyers of the Greenpeace photographer Denis Sinyakov and left without changing the preventive measure in the form of detention.

At the end of September, Denis Sinyakov, who removed the Greenpeace environmental organization on the Priraslomnaya oil platform of the Russian company Gazprom Neft, was arrested until November 24, on suspicion of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 227 of the Criminal Code of Russia (piracy committed in a group of persons).

A photographer with a group of ecologists who protested against oil production in the Arctic was on board the ship Arctic Sunrise , which was detained on September 19 by the Russian border service and towed in Murmansk. On Arctic Sunrise, Denis Sinyakov worked on the instructions of Lenta.ru and had their editorial press card with him. On September 18, his report was published on Lent.ru.

Now Denis Sinyakov is in the Murmansk investigative isolator, he went to contact with the court with the help of video communication.

This decision was made by the captain, I do not understand how to blame me for this. Secondly, the investigation refers to the presence of a passport with a Schengen visa. But I seized this passport! Thirdly, your honor, do criminals often go, for example, to rob a bank, take a photojournalist with them? In the computer seized, I have a permanent shooting of events at the Prirazlomnaya. And most importantly - the content of me in custody calls into question the very existence of my family, I havea wife and a three -year -old child. ”

Sinyakov also said that if the decision to arrest in a court of second instance, then he will have reason to consider this matter political and organized by someone upstairs.
